Need a little help learning your way around the kitchen? This class is just right for the inexperienced cook or novice who wants to brush up on basic kitchen skills. This three-class series (July 13, 20, 27) builds on basic techniques and gives you the skills to create a simple dinner each class around those techniques. Class One (July 13): Class covers basic kitchen equipment and uses, including knives, measuring, and stovetop cooking techniques. The meal includes simple pasta sauce made from pantry ingredients, vinaigrette dressing and a marinated vegetable salad, and a simple fruit dessert. Class Two (July 20): Class covers saute and steaming, plus some basic baking skills. Meal includes sauteed chicken breast with pan sauce, stir-fried vegetables, rice pilaf, and a simple cake. Class Three (July 27): Class includes roasting and oven cooking, sauces, and gravies. Meal includes roasted chicken with gravy, a potato dish, vegetable with simple sauce, and dessert with fruit sauce. By registering for the July 13 class, you have registered for the three class series. |
