ABOUT US Just how exactly did The Kitchen Studio get started? For owner Christine Van Bloem, it’s all about the food. While living in New York City, Christine decided to stop just eating great food, and start cooking it! She completed the professional program at Peter Kump’s New York Cooking School (now known as The Institute for Culinary Education) in 1995 and moved to beautiful Frederick County just a year later. Christine made the plunge and started personal cheffing full-time in 2001. Since then, she’s never looked back. After many years of teaching private classes in student’s homes, and working with a highly regarded local caterer, interaction with amazing students of all levels spurred her into action. Inspiration struck! Instead of students driving at least an hour to Washington, DC or Baltimore, the time for Frederick’s very own cooking school had come, and The Kitchen Studio Cooking School was born! Christine teaches at the school in addition to running Make It, Take It, Bake It, The Kitchen Studio’s answer to quick dinners you assemble yourself. A number of delightful guest chefs also make regular appearances at the school. The Kitchen Studio has a wide variety of both demonstration and participation classes to suit everyone’s needs.
